Choosing an  electric bike

You've probably noticed in recent years that electric has become more than a trend! From cars to scooters, including buses, everyone is going electric — and for good reason.

In recent months, it's the electric bike that has started to make its appearance in our daily lives. Practical and fast, electric bikes keep winning people over and are flying off the shelves. So where does this phenomenon come from and why should you go for the electric bike in 2023?

EXPLANATIONS

But what exactly is an electric bike?

The Electric-Assist Bicycle (e-bike), or more commonly called an electric bike, bases its appearance on a classic bicycle but has one distinguishing feature: it has an electric motor!

But the motor is not the only thing that propels the bike forward — you count for a lot too. Indeed, this mode of transport combines your energy with that of the motor.

What are the benefits?

comfort above all!

Less effort and more comfort!

Could the electric bike be the perfect compromise between effort and relaxation? Well, yes! Its system, similar to that of an electric scooter, requires a speed increase to at least 6 km/h to activate the motor.

From this speed, and up to 25 km/h, enjoy a true ride with minimal physical effort.

The little extra

No more "Sweaty Mornings"!

One of the biggest "cons" of using a mechanical bike is the level of physical energy it requires. Indeed, over longer distances, cycling can potentially lead to sweating, which will itself depend on the temperature you are exposed to.

Arriving at work after a 30 min bike ride in 30°C heat isn't exactly ideal… But with an electric bike, no more worries! Minimal effort and minimal need for deodorant — to the great delight of your colleagues.

Want to accessorize your bike? Why not start with a phone mount?

investing in the future!

An investment that will pay off!

The price of electric bikes on the market can range from 900 to 5,000 euros for the highest-quality models. A fairly high price, but can this investment pay for itself over time?

The answer is yes! Unlike a traditional bicycle, an electric bike allows you to cover longer distances at a higher speed, making it closer in utility to a scooter or a motorcycle.

And it's especially on the budget you'll dedicate to charging your 2-wheeler that it will really make you happy. Based on several calculations, expect roughly €1 of electricity for 1,000 km. That's €0.001 per kilometer. To give you an idea, a car consumes around €85 of fuel for 1,000 km, or €0.085 per kilometer traveled.

the boost!

A helping hand to make your life easier!

It's well known! Cycling is more responsible, more practical, more accessible… and especially very easy on your wallet! Since January 1, 2023, a subsidy called "Bonus Vélo" has been introduced by the government to make it easier for certain households to purchase a bike. So, is it worth it?

Electric bikes are attracting more and more skeptics today, but above all, more and more fans! With highly versatile use, ranging from leisure rides to daily commutes to your workplace. The e-bike positions itself as a more eco-friendly alternative to the car or motorcycle, letting you keep the freedom and fluidity of a classic mechanical bike.
