How to properly mount your phone on a motorcycle?
Fixing your phone on your motorcycle is simple: a magnetic mount goes on in 5 minutes, tool-free for strap models. The real question is choosing the right system based on your handlebars type and usage.
- Standard handlebars (22-28 mm): strap or screw-lock mount.
- Sport bike with clip-ons: dedicated clip-on mount (brackets).
- Engine vibrations: an anti-vibration module protects your camera (OIS).
- Magnetic mount: one-handed attachment and removal, even with gloves.
Which mount for your handlebars?
Most motorcycles (roadster, trail, adventure, custom) have tubular handlebars between 22 and 28 mm. Three support levels cover this format:
- Motorcycle mount (elastic strap): tool-free installation, perfect for daily commutes. See motorcycle handlebar mounts
- Motorcycle mount PRO (screw lock): firm grip, recommended on poor roads and long rides.
- Motorcycle mount PRO BOOST (screw lock + 360° extension arm): angle your screen toward the sun or to your position without touching the handlebars. It's the most complete model in the range. See the PRO BOOST
Riding a sport bike with clip-ons? Turn to the clip-on mount, designed for low bars and tight spaces.
Screw locking resists where a strap can loosen: on rough pavement, in the mountains, or after a long road trip.
Engine vibrations: think about your camera
The engine generates vibrations that travel to the handlebars, then to the mount. On a short ride, the impact is minimal. On a long distance or with a high-torque engine, your phone's optical stabilizer (OIS) can suffer.
Installation: how does it work?
Here's the process for a Shapeheart magnetic mount:
- Place the mount on the handlebars: wrap the strap or screw the collar depending on the model.
- Stick the metal plate on the rigid shell of your phone, on the back. Only on a smooth, rigid case, never directly on the device. Or slide your phone into the magnetic Sleeve.
- Place the phone: the magnet catches immediately. Removal is one-handed.
Allow 5 minutes the first time for tightening. After that, attachment and removal are instant, even with gloves.
What if the phone falls?
An unexpected impact, a rut you didn't see: even a good mount can fail in an extreme case. The phone tether attaches between the mount and device. Simple security to add, especially on highways or in the mountains.
If an element wears over time, spare parts (strap, silicone cover) are available separately. No need to buy a whole new mount.
