Magnetic bike lights: ride seen at night
In September, daylight shortens week after week. Cyclists who resume commuting or go out in the evening quickly find themselves riding in the dark. In France, LED lights front and rear are mandatory from sunset: a simple rule, but one many cyclists discover when they need them. Shapeheart magnetic LED lights meet this requirement with a practical advantage: they come off in one second, tool-free, at every stop.
- In France, Article R313-1 of the Highway Code requires a white light at the front and a red one at the rear from sunset or in poor visibility.
- Pano LED lights illuminate at 300°, Mini LED lights at 210°. Both attach and detach by magnet, tool-free.
- Magnetic attachment lets you remove the lights before parking your bike: no theft, no forgotten recharges.
- Pano LED pair (front + rear): €79.95. Mini LED pair: €39.95. Each version also sells separately.
Pano or Mini LED lights: find both ranges and choose based on your budget and usage.

In France, sunset shifts from 9 p.m. early September to 7:30 p.m. late September. In two weeks, evening trips shift from day to night without warning. If you ride at 6:30 p.m. early October, you're in darkness. LED lights are not a safety item to delay.
Article R313-1 of the Highway Code requires a white fixed or flashing light at the front and a red light at the rear for any bike riding at night or in poor visibility. Lack of lights exposes you to a first-class fine. Beyond the legal requirement, being visible to other users concretely reduces collision risk.
September is the right time to check your LED lights, recharge them, or buy new ones before the need becomes urgent.
Pano LED lights: 300° panoramic lighting
Visible front, side and diagonal
The pair of Shapeheart magnetic Pano LED lights illuminate at 300°. It's the recommended equipment for riding in the city at rush hour, where drivers approach from all angles: intersections, parking exits, bike paths crossing traffic. In our daily commute tests in urban settings, the side coverage of the Pano proved decisive at traffic-light-free crossings.
The front light attaches to the frame, headtube or handlebar using the supplied elastics. The rear light attaches to the seatpost the same way. Recharging is via USB: you recharge in the evening like your phone and ride off in the morning. Expect several days of battery life for 30-minute daily rides.
Mini LED lights: compact and economical
Compact, lightweight, 210° LED lighting
Mini magnetic LED lights illuminate at 210°. It's the ideal option for evening rides on well-lit roads, or to supplement existing equipment if you already have a powerful front light up front. Mini rear lights are enough in this case, and their compact size goes unnoticed on the bike.
Magnetic attachment works on the same principle as Pano LED: elastics hold the base, the magnet holds the light part. You remove them in one second when you stop. Compact format, reduced weight: they don't add bulk to your bike and slip easily into your backpack.
Magnetic attachment: remove your LED lights tool-free
On a commute bike, the bike often parks in unsupervised spaces: office hallways, parking lots, sidewalks. Leaving your LED lights on the bike all day means accepting either losing them or coming home with a dead battery because you forgot to remove them yesterday.
The magnetic principle changes the equation. The base attaches to the frame or seatpost once and stays there. The LED light part comes off in one second: you park your bike, you slip the lights in your bag. The next morning you place them back. This gesture takes less than a second per side, versus 10 to 15 seconds with a regular screw clip.
Remove your LED lights at every stop: with Shapeheart's magnetic attachment, this good habit becomes as simple as locking your bike.
USB recharging becomes easier. You only recharge the LED light part, not the base. It plugs in like a phone to any outlet. In practice on our daily tests, one night's charge is enough for two to three days of 30-minute rides.
Pano or Mini LED lights: how to choose?
The choice depends on your riding context and budget.
| Criterion | Pano LED lights | Mini LED lights |
|---|---|---|
| Lighting angle | 300° | 210° |
| Price (pair front + rear) | €79.95 | €39.95 |
| Ideal for | Dense city, intersections, mixed-use paths | Well-lit roads, occasional use |
| Magnetic attachment | Yes | Yes |
| USB recharging | Yes | Yes |
If you mainly ride on separated bike paths or low-traffic roads, Mini LED meets the legal requirement without overspending. If you cross high-traffic intersections, Pano LED is worth the budget difference: their side coverage makes you visible from the sides, not just front and back.
Both ranges work together: if you start with Mini LED and want to switch to Pano later, the attachment logic stays the same.

Discover magnetic LED lightsFrequently asked questions
Do magnetic LED lights resist rain?
Pano and Mini LED lights are designed for outdoor bike use. They resist ordinary water splashes (light to moderate rain) that happen during rides. For heavy downpours, it's better to reduce prolonged direct exposure.
Can you use LED lights on any bike?
Yes. Pano and Mini LED lights attach with elastics to the frame, seatpost or handlebar, with no drilling or bike modification. They're compatible with city bikes, hybrids, graveliers and mountain bikes.
Does the magnetic LED light attachment hold while riding?
Yes. The base attaches with elastics and stays in place. The LED light part, held by the magnet, stays secure during the ride. The advantage of magnetic attachment is in removal when you stop, not in grip while riding: in either case, the light stays on your bike during the ride.
Can you attach the LED lights to the Shapeheart bike phone holder?
No. LED lights have their own elastic-based attachment system, separate from the phone holder. They install independently on the handlebar or seatpost. You can use a phone holder and Shapeheart LED lights on the same bike with no interaction between the two systems.
