The basics
The Tour de France is undoubtedly the most prestigious cycling race in the world. Spanning three weeks, it consists of 21 intense stages. To win this competition, the objective is simple: complete all stages with the shortest cumulative time.
The race brings together 22 teams, each made up of 8 cyclists with specific and strategic roles.

The different stages
Each stage of the Tour de France is a true adventure, crossing mountains, plains, and thrilling descents.
. The high-mountain stages, marked by the presence of at least two mountain passes, are the most demanding both physically and mentally, and are often decisive for the overall standings. During these days, riders can be seen laboriously climbing kilometers of near-vertical ascents, often scattered in small groups.
. Time trial stages, equally crucial, are distinguished by the individual start of each rider. Each participant is timed, and the one who achieves the best time wins the stage.
. Flat stages and hilly stages are distinguished by their layout: a predominantly flat course is a flat stage, while a course featuring some difficulties, such as cobblestones, is classified as a hilly stage.

The different jerseys
. The yellow jersey is the symbol of the Tour de France. It is worn by the rider leading the general classification. To wear this much coveted jersey, you must be the best performer across all stages. It is every rider's dream to put on this iconic jersey.
. The Green Jersey is worn by the cyclist leading the points classification. Points are awarded at the finish of each stage as well as at intermediate sprints. This is why the Green Jersey is generally awarded to the best sprinter.
. The Polka Dot Jersey is worn by the rider leading the best climber classification. "Mountain points" are awarded at the summits of passes and vary according to the category of the climb.
. The White Jersey is worn by the leader of the best young rider classification (maximum 25 years old)
